OKX Fee Calculator

Break-even and round-trip cost on OKX's published BTC-USDT-SWAP fee schedule.

A fee schedule only becomes real when it is attached to a position. This page applies OKX's published maker and taker rates for BTC-USDT-SWAP to a trade you specify, and shows the exit price that returns your capital — plus what the round trip costs as a share of the margin you actually posted.

How it works

Break-even is not entry plus twice the fee. The closing fee is charged on the exit value, which is the very number being solved for, so the exit appears on both sides of the equation. Setting profit equal to total fees and collecting terms gives entry × (1 + entry fee) ÷ (1 − exit fee) for a long.

The difference from the approximation is small at retail fee levels and grows with the fee. What matters more is the second figure: leverage does not move the break-even price at all, but it divides your margin, so the identical round trip costs twenty times more of your posted capital at 100× than at 5×.

break-even = entry × (1 ± fee_in) ÷ (1 ∓ fee_out)

Round-trip cost across exchanges

Taker in and taker out on a 10,000 position — the honest comparison, since stops and liquidations never fill as maker.

Trading fees on OKX

OKX charges maker and taker rates on perpetual swaps that sit in line with the market, with VIP tiers driven by trading volume and OKB holdings together. What sets OKX apart is not the headline rate but where the fee appears in the risk calculation: the liquidation fee is part of the maintenance requirement.

The fee is inside the margin requirement

On most venues a trading fee is a cost deducted from the result. On OKX the liquidation fee counts towards what the position must keep, so the fee schedule shifts your liquidation price as well as your net PnL.

The effect is small at low leverage and grows with it. At 100× the initial margin is one percent of the position, and a 0.05% taker fee is a twentieth of that entire buffer — one of the clearest arguments against extreme leverage that requires no view on the market at all.

Contract sizing distorts fee comparisons

Because OKX quotes size in contracts of 0.01 BTC, a comparison built from contract counts rather than notional value is wrong by a factor of a hundred. Every figure on this page derives from position value in quote currency, which is directly comparable across venues.

When comparing your own costs between exchanges, normalise to notional first. It is the most common source of a conclusion that reverses once the arithmetic is corrected.

FAQ

What are OKX perpetual swap fees?

Standard maker and taker rates are above with the best publicly listed VIP tier. OKX's tiers account for OKB holdings as well as volume, so two traders with identical turnover can pay different rates.

Why does the fee move my liquidation price here but not on Binance?

Because OKX documents the margin ratio as including the liquidation fee and Binance does not. Same position, same leverage, genuinely different trigger — which is why these pages are per-exchange rather than one page with a dropdown.

Do I pay a fee when I am liquidated?

Yes, a taker fee on the closing trade the engine executes. It is already inside the maintenance requirement, which is why liquidation arrives marginally earlier on OKX than the bare maintenance rate implies.
